So you just installed or have a new computer with Windows 8 and you’re attempting to access Project Web Access (PWA) on Project Server 2010. You can access the PWA site, but you receive the following error when selecting the Project Center:
“This Web Part requires at least Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0. For more information, contact your Project Server Administrator”
The same error occurs when accessing the Resource Center.
But if you attempt to access the Server Settings, you receive the following error:
Server Error in ‘/’ Application – Runtime Error
But if you check the PWA site on a Windows 7 computer, there are no errors.
So obviously there is a problem with PWA, since Windows 8 includes Internet Explorer 10. Perhaps a hard coded entry for web browser check?
In any case, this can be temporarily resolved by adding the site URL to the Compatibility View List in Internet Explorer 10
1. On Internet Explorer 10, from the Tools menu click Compatibility View settings.
2. In the Compatibility View Settings dialog box, the URL of PWA should be automatically added in the Add this website box. Click Add and then click Close.
3. The web page is refreshed and the Project Center Web Part is now displayed:
4. And the Server Settings page can be displayed too:
