How to Fix Project Web Access Error on Windows 8?

So you just installed or have a new computer with Windows 8 and you’re attempting to access Project Web Access (PWA) on Project Server 2010. You can access the PWA site, but you receive the following error when selecting the Project Center:

“This Web Part requires at least Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0. For more information, contact your Project Server Administrator”

The same error occurs when accessing the Resource Center.

FIX: Project Server 2010 Administrator Denied Access

Very strange situation happened in my test environment where the Project Server Administrator is denied access to some objects in the Server Settings in PWA.

In my situation I attempted to access the Active Directory Resource Pool Synchronization setting under the Operational Policies section.

Advanced Restoring of Microsoft Project Server 2010 Databases

As many of you already know, restoring a Project Server 2010 database can be done a few ways:

  • SharePoint Central Administration
  • SQL Server Management Studio

And this is all fine if you are restoring the database from the same server.

But what happens if you attempt to restore the databases from a different SharePoint/SQL Server and possibly from a different domain? How about working in an isolated Dev environment and wanting to restore the database into production? While this is a very unlikely scenario in a production environment, nevertheless what would happen if you had to rebuild your network domain infrastructure?

How to Download the Microsoft 2010 IW Demo VM Faster

You’ve been tasked to download and test the Microsoft 2010 IW Demo VM that can be found at the Microsoft Download Center:

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=27417

You have over 44 files to download and each file are mostly 700 MB in size. You start the process by clicking  the download button for each file.

However you are limited to 3 download sessions at one time and limited by the amount of download speed Sad smile

So how do you speed up the download process?

How to Change/Transfer the Project Manager of a Project in Microsoft Project Server 2010?

So you need to change the Project Manager for one of your projects, but how do you go about it?

You’re going to need to do a few things.

  • Change the Project Permissions
  • Change the Ownership of the Project
  • Change the Status Manager of the Project
  • Publish the Project
