So you just installed or have a new computer with Windows 8 and you’re attempting to access Project Web Access (PWA) on Project Server 2010. You can access the PWA site, but you receive the following error when selecting the Project Center:
“This Web Part requires at least Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0. For more information, contact your Project Server Administrator”
The same error occurs when accessing the Resource Center.

Very strange situation happened in my test environment where the Project Server Administrator is denied access to some objects in the Server Settings in PWA.
In my situation I attempted to access the Active Directory Resource Pool Synchronization setting under the Operational Policies section.

As many of you already know, restoring a Project Server 2010 database can be done a few ways:
- SharePoint Central Administration
- SQL Server Management Studio
And this is all fine if you are restoring the database from the same server.
But what happens if you attempt to restore the databases from a different SharePoint/SQL Server and possibly from a different domain? How about working in an isolated Dev environment and wanting to restore the database into production? While this is a very unlikely scenario in a production environment, nevertheless what would happen if you had to rebuild your network domain infrastructure?
Here’s a hint: we know that Active Directory GUIDs are used for Project Server users to access PWA, so if the GUIDs are changed in any way there will be no access to PWA and would receive the following error (that includes the Administrator): Continue reading “Advanced Restoring of Microsoft Project Server 2010 Databases” »

You’ve been tasked to download and test the Microsoft 2010 IW Demo VM that can be found at the Microsoft Download Center:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=27417
You have over 44 files to download and each file are mostly 700 MB in size. You start the process by clicking the download button for each file.
However you are limited to 3 download sessions at one time and limited by the amount of download speed
So how do you speed up the download process?
